National Greenways are long distance trails that provide safe, convenient access to Taiwan’s natural and cultural landscape. It is our priority project to systemically conserve existing paths and their diverse, regional characters, including waterways and railways. Through public and private partnership effort, we hope the Greenways will be recognized as “national spaces”, becoming a place where both domestic and international visitors can enjoy and learn about the land.
Eco-Craft Trails
“Keep Out Concrete, Keep it Natural!”
We have completed investigating more than 200 trails in Taipei, New Taipei City and Taichung with the help of volunteers. Under our working holiday program, we have trained numerous volunteers using eco-craft trail methods to repair and maintain trails, keeping them in their most natural form.
International Networking
International networking is integral to the promotion of National Greenways, hence becoming one of our key focuses in the past few years. We have been hosting international guests and visiting other trails all over the world, as well as forming friendship trails. Currently, we are an active member of the World Trail Network (WTN) and the secretariat of Asia Trail Network (ATN).
Advocacy
Through publications, workshops, seminars, and other activities in various forms, we have continued to bring attention to our Greenway mission and raise awareness on the importance of eco-craft trail reform. Our regular trail advocacy work includes the annual Taiwan Trail Day, the monthly Trail Talk, and Trailology courses in many different community colleges.
